Mt. Shasta is reflected at sunrise in Lake Shastina, 2007.
This image was made 8 years ago when California was having normal rainfall and snowfall with no drought in sight.
There was plenty of water in the lake when I arrived in the pre-dawn hours and proceeded to walk precariously out onto the lake’s surface by way of a shaky wooden boat dock. After my wobbly attempts to set up the camera and tripod, the ripples in the water finally disappeared and the surface of the lake became as still as a mirror.
The spectacular light lasted only about 60 seconds before it was gone.
