Nepal: Breakfast Tea, 2000

One of the many highlights of the day during my trek in the Solu Khumbu region of Nepal in 2000 was awaking in my sleeping bag at sunrise to the call of “Breakfast Tea, sir” by a pair of Sherpa helpers.

Cheerful and dedicated, they did all the hard work: setting-up camp, preparing meals, breaking down camp, loading and unloading gear onto the yaks. All I had to do was walk and carry my pack and camera. No doubt, they would have done that for me too, if need be.
